Full ArtistWorks Review

In this ArtistWorks Review we will cover the pros and cons of the service as well as describing how it works as it is a little different from the others in the market.

  • The quality of the instructors available are second to none.
  • They use slow motion video so you can really see in detail what is going on.
  • It has a very active community that helps you improve. Not only do you interact with your tutor but also other students can get involved making it more fun. you can view other students videos for a particular lesson and learn from them as well as your teacher.
  • The course makes is clear what level of skill is required for each lesson so you can move on when you have mastered the fundamentals to the more advanced lessons.

  • The design and layout was a bit confusing when we first used it. We got the hang of it after a while but it took a bit of time and patients to master the interface.
  • You can’t download the videos to watch offline – they only stream. If you are on the move and want to catch up you need a reliable internet connection or you can’t view lessons properly.
  • The library is a little limited when it comes to the selection of genres and types. Most general styles are covered but if you want a specific type it may not be available.

One of the best features of ArtistWorks is you can sign up for lessons design especially for you. You can select the type of guitar you want learn – such as acoustic or electric – and the style you are interested in – such as Rock, Blues, Country, Jazz, Classical – and you will get bespoke lessons. It is the closest thing to a one-on-one lesson you can have via the internet and is completely different from other guitar training websites that offer a library of pre-recorded lessons to pick from. All for $1 a day.

It works like this.

You record videos of you playing and your tutor provides feedback via a video message that you can watch as many times as you want. Being able to rematch these videos are great as you don’t always pick everything up the first time around. Relevant PDFs also accompany the lessons, so you’ll be able to download the chords and relevant materials to make following along with the lessons a breeze.

This brings me on to the teachers themselves. They are really impressive guys such as Paul Gilbert from Guitar World and the band Mr Big as well as Keith Wyatt, Guthrie Trapp, and Chuck Loeb, to name a few. ArtistWorks feel like an authentic place to get great quality lessons rather than just trying to cash in on name recognition.

You get personalized instruction and feedback from famous guitarists as well as access to a buzzing online community. There are hundreds of video lessons too making this a brilliant value for money deal. You just can’t beat the quality on offer. The only slight downside is that they don’t offer a free trial to see if it is for you. That apart, it is a fantastic resource.
